I was first introduced to this book in the late 90's while in massage school. I remember browsing through it, but never really studied it until years later. Boy, did I miss out! This is a fantastic in-depth look into human nature through our energetic body, mainly the chakras. Although, if you never absorb anything about the chakras specifically, you will still learn so much about the way humans interact based on unconscious emotional patterns. She walks you through each chakra (energy center of your body located up the midline of the torso and head) and how they relate to emotional and generational patterns, as well as the wisdom contained in each one. I love how she compares and sees the correlations to the way God designed us, and how Christian beliefs match perfectly to that. She has also found the same similarities to Hindu and Kabbalah. I think it's a beautiful thing that so many of God's children have so many similarities regardless of religious backgrounds. There are some things that I don't agree with religion-wise, but overall, there are too many helpful things not to consider reading this book. Here's a quote from Chapter 2: The Second Chakra "The fact that our choices weave our spirits into events is the reason the major spiritual traditions are formed around one essential lesson: Make your choices wisely, because each choice you make is a creative act of spiritual power for which you are held responsible. Further, any choice made from faith has the full power of heaven behind it --which is why "faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain." And any choice made from fear is a violation of the energy of faith." Myss also gives great questions for self-reflection after each chapter. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting more information on chakras, but also for help in releasing old emotional baggage.

This book is packed full of tips for helping your body release negative emotions and mental "clutter." Donna Eden is one of the leading gurus in the natural health world in learning how to balance the body's natural rhythm's and flows of energy. These movements and exercises are simple yet powerful. They help connect the hemisphere's of the brain, and assist the brain in connecting with the rest of the body. She gives basic advice on how energy works, information on chakras, meridians, auras, and more. She also gives practical tips on what to do if you are sick, or needing a mental boost. Her tips work and feel great. Who wouldn't want to feel less mental "clutter?" This is a great book for beginners to the energy world, and also as an excellent reference for anyone experienced in energy healing. I was first introduced to this book in the early 2000's. I remember thinking, when my friend suggested it to me, "what kind of title is that?" I trusted her, so I decided to jump in and read it. And, I'm so glad I did. At the time, this book was life changing for me. It helped me realize how much of my own actions were creating the problems I had. It helped me take a good hard look in the mirror and make some major internal changes. I read it again last year, and found the information just as timely as it was back then. The book has reflection questions at the end of each chapter. They are worth utilizing. In a nutshell, the book basically talks about how since we, as amazing human beings containing every aspect of life and creation within our DNA (and every cell), have the capacity to be everything good, and everything bad. Debbie Ford says, "If there is an aspect of ourselves that we don't accept, we'll continually attract people in our lives who act out that aspect. The universe will keep trying to show us who we really are and to help make us whole again. Most of us have buried these disowned aspects so deep we can't see where we could possibly be a particular kind of person that we look at with distaste. However, if a particular type of person keeps showing up in your life, it's for a reason." "The strength to look clearly at your past and take back aspects of yourself that you've given away, lies within you. All you have to do is close your eyes, go within, and ask. The power you need is there, but it will only come out when your desire to change your life is stronger than your desire to stay the same. It's always easy to blame others for the condition of our lives. When we lose touch with ourselves we lose touch with our divinity, and because we don't trust ourselves we come to believe that other people can't be trusted. For some people the pain of the past is so great they believe the only way they can cope is to blame and deny. You must embrace your past if you want to change your present. If you want to manifest your desires you must be accountable for the everything that takes place in your world." This is such a great book, and one I would suggest anyone read. |
